Tapfolio Trending for iPhone Updated
Our latest release has just been approved by Apple and posted online: version 1.3 of Trending is now available for download everywhere.
If you haven’t used Tapfolio Trending before, you’ll find it the fastest and most convenient way to see where the markets are at a glance.
This latest version contains a number of tweaks and improvements, including often requested increase to the number of stories each stock stream can hold. The new version lets you add more story tiles at any time, by simply sliding your finger to the left when you get to the last story in the stream.
You will also find the app faster when downloading stock prices and news stories, as well as better at sharing graphs and stories.
So wait no more, grab the latest Tapfolio Trending - it’s free!
Tapfolio Trending Goes Live
Over the past few months our team has been working on several projects at once, and we’re ready to start showing you the fruits of that labour. Before we get to the new version of Tapfolio (which is nearing completion), today we want to show you Tapfolio Trending for iPhone.
This is not Tapfolio shrunk to fit that small 3.5 inch screen. Tapfolio Trending is a completely different beast. We realized early on that we couldn’t replicate Tapfolio’s functionality on such a small screen so we engineered Trending to serve its primary usage model: on-the-go. Trending is based around stock watch-lists, that also act as channels for news delivery. Tap and swipe through the news headlines aggragated by our sophisticated news delivery back-end that took months to perfect.
Did we mention that the whole app is social? Tweet news stories, share any graph directly to Facebook, we will even host them on our site so you can discuss what’s happening with AAPL lately.
So without further ado, visit our iTunes page and download Trending for yourself - it’s free! And when you’re done experimenting with Trending, we would really appreciate 5 seconds of your time to leave us a rating or review, as they help immensely when launching new apps.
But most importantly - have fun!
Tapfolio Update (1.4) is Now Live!
The latest Tapfolio update is now live on the App Store. Apart from many smaller tweaks and fixes, you will now also be able to re-arrange stocks in your watchlist, as per (very) popular demand: just tap Edit and use the handles on each tile to move them around.
To get the update just go to tapfolio.com/download - and if you have extra few seconds tap the star rating to tell the others what you think. Every rating or review helps and you might even see your name and review featured on our front page.
The latest Tapfolio update is getting closer
The first 2012 update to Tapfolio is being released today to Apple for review! It contains many small tweaks to user interface and better international support (global stocks are not yet part of this update, but coming soon!). If everything goes well you should have the latest version on your iPad sometime next week.
Help Design our iPhone App, Get it Free and Win $200
Tapfolio is about to make the leap from iPad to iPhone, development is already underway. But we decided that instead of toiling away in the dark on this next release, we would include you in our sausage making process - so please, come right in!
So what’s the deal?
Help us make the iPhone app you want to use - we are giving away three Apple iTunes gift cards (or cash equivalents) to those who come up with the best suggestions for Tapfolio for iPhone. What would you like to see in it? Tell us on our Facebook page and the most popular suggestion will get a $200 iTunes gift card, with the runner up and the third place getting $100 and $50 respectively.
In addition, if you’re one of the first 40 people to post on our wall you will get the new app for free!
We can’t promise that your suggestion will make it into our first iPhone release (win or not) but it will definitely help us deliver you a better product. So it’s still a win-win proposition :)
If you have an Android phone don’t despair - we will be working on that next, so whatever you suggest for the iPhone version will likely apply to Android version as well.
So without further ado, head over to our Facebook page and tell us what you’d like to see in Tapfolio for iPhone!
Full rules: to make it fair, we will count suggestions posted between January 9th and January 20th 2012. We will tally “Likes” on all suggestions in the wee hours of January 23rd 2012 (PST). The top Liked suggestion wins a $200 iTunes gift card, the second most Liked wins $100 while the third place gets $50. If the winners are outside of Canada we will have to pay out your prize in cash via PayPal. Still, all quoted amounts are in USD. You can enter multiple suggestions but only your best-performing entry will count. First 40 entrants will also win the new iPhone app for free. If you win we will contact you through Facebook. You do not have to be our customer to enter.
That was a busy few days
As the rainy winter enveloped us (at least here in BC, Canada) we were kept very busy with Tapfolio’s Free for the Holidays promotion. We’ve received great feedback and some of you even went a step further - Pedro has blogged his experience and the unexpected bonus (translated from Spanish), thank you!
Tapfolio will stay free for only a few more days, until January 2nd to be exact. If you have friends or family who unwrapped iPads this Christmas let them know, iPads love Tapfolio.
We wish you all the best for the New Year! We can’t wait for 2012 - we have some great things planned for you all.
Tapfolio heads overseas
The first couple of days of our Free for the Holidays promotion have been hectic, to say the least. Our servers are humming nicely, feeding a lot of data to iPads around North America.
Unfortunately, this has only contrasted the fact that we haven’t been available to users outside the US and Canada and in the last 2 days have received a number of requests to go live globally, even if we don’t support local currency or stock exchanges, since lots of you trade exclusively in North American markets.
So if you can live with that limitation you can now download Tapfolio in your local App Store, regardless of where you are.
Tapfolio goes Free for the Holidays
It is that time of the year and we’d like to help celebrate by making Tapfolio completely free for the holidays!
As announced today on Dan Benjamin’s and Marco Arment’s Build & Analyze show, you can download Tapfolio for free during the holidays, and keep it indefinitely, even when the free offer expires.
Don’t have an iPad? Send it to a friend who has one, they’ll certainly appreciate it.
It’s been a month since the Tapfolio came out and what a month it’s been! We have already put out one update, and expanded our sales to a few more countries with more coming soon, we promise!
No rest for the Tapfolio crew of course - we are currently working on the December update, expected in a couple of weeks, and are solidifying our secret plans for the start of the new year (*cough* iPhone *cough*)
To celebrate the season and spread the word about how cool Tapfolio is we are preparing a little surprise for the holidays. Join our friendly little newsletter to be kept in the loop (seen in the right sidebar), or follow us on Twitter or Facebook. This is definitely something you’ll want to pass onto your friends, trust us.
